CTO's Rental Information Center provides Rental Rights Information by phone to 10,000 people each year, in NE Ohio communities which provide funding. RIC is supported by contracts with the cities of Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Lakewood, and Cuyahoga Urban County. United Way Services provides supplementary funding.

Getting in touch with CTO's Rental Information Center!

Because CTO has contract requirements to fulfill and limited staff... and because demand for information is highest in the first ten days of the month... we follow these principles in responding to requests for help.

1. First, we try to have 'open lines' between 9 AM and 4 PM on Monday thru Friday. We'll talk to anyone who can get thru regardless of where the caller lives.

2. If our lines are busy or it's after hours, we ask callers to leave a name and phone number and, if they want information mailed, and address and zip.

3. We give priority to call backs to funding communities. These communities include:

  • City of Cleveland
  • City of Cleveland Heights
  • City of Lakewood
  • City of East Cleveland
  • Cuyahoga Urban County Communities
    • Bay Village
    • Beachwood
    • Bedford
    • Bedford Hts
    • Berea
    • Bratenahl
    • Broadview Hts
    • Brook Park
    • Brooklyn
    • Cuyahoga Hts
    • Fairview Park
    • Garfield Hts
    • Glenwillow
    • Highland Hts
    • Highland Hills
    • Linndale
    • Lyndhurst
    • Maple Hts
    • Mayfield Hts
    • Mayfield Vill
    • Newburgh Hts
    • North Olmsted
    • North Randall
    • North Royalton
    • Oakwood Village
    • Olmsted Falls
    • Olmsted Twp
    • Orange
    • Parma Hts
    • Richmond Hts
    • Rocky River
    • Shaker Hts
    • Solon
    • South Euclid
    • Strongsville
    • University Hts
    • Valley View
    • Warrensville Hts
    • Westlake
    • Woodmere

4. Callers in the local dialing area; but not in a funding community, eg. Euclid, and Parma, often have to wait until a volunteer is available to make a call back.

5. Callers outside the local dialing area (216) will receive literature by mail if they leave an address, but will not get a callback.

6. MEMBERS of CTO have direct access to staff through the MEMBERLINE.

7. Office Appointments: Landlords or tenants who find it more convenient to come to the office can make an appointment during regular working hours.

8. Rental Information Clinics: Walk-in "clinics" are held every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the following locations:

  • Lakewood Christian Service Center, 1410 Marlowe, Lakewood, Ohio

RIC is a part of the Cleveland Tenants Organization. Other CTO programs include Tenant Organizing, Community Planning, and Evicted Diversion. CTO is proud to be a United Way member agency.
